| Overview: |
The Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) has been a tremendous innovator and investor in nonprofit leadership development – including a special focus on supporting successful leadership transitions. Donna Stark, the AECF Vice President of Leadership Development will join us to share the results of their research, the initiatives they have pursued and useful lessons for funders of all sizes. We will also talk about how San Diego grantmakers could work most effectively together to productively support leadership development throughout the sector. This is a perfect way to reinvigorate the attention to this topic that started with last year’s report from USD- Executive Transition in the San Diego Nonprofit Sector. Since we know that nearly 70% of current San Diego nonprofit Executive Directors will be retiring in the next 5 years, this leadership transition issue will be a huge challenge for our nonprofit partners in the foreseeable future. We are excited to have the opportunity to learn from a national leader and perhaps kickstart a new SDG working group: Nonprofit Leadership Development Funders.
