| Overview: |
Purpose of San Diego Neighborhood Funders: A collaboration of funders working together to Support resident-led change in the Diamond Neighborhoods of southeastern San Diego.
Learning Agenda-Building Cultural Understanding by Outreaching to and Organizing Residents in Diverse Communities
The program will feature the work of the Jacobs Center International Outreach Team, which includes 17 youth and adult representatives from the Latino, African American, Samoan, Laotian, Sudanese, and Somali cultures who outreach to and connect residents with the activities and opportunities in The Village at Market Creek. As with other communities in this nation, the demographic shift has been dramatic in southeastern San Diego. For the past eight years, arts and culture have been the major galvanizing force in organizing residents in southeastern San Diego to come together, vision and plan, create, and celebrate their multicultural neighborhoods. By focusing on the diverse cultural roots of residents, this unique approach continues to build a strong sense of neighborhood identity and unity.
RSVP required by March 26.
